Project overview

Located in Gloucester, Hartpury University offers further and higher education in agriculture, animal, equine, sport, and veterinary nursing, serving over 4,000 students. Recognising the need to support the growing number of EV drivers among its students and staff, Hartpury University partnered with Roam to introduce EV charging facilities on campus.

In addition to providing a convenient place to charge, the university aimed to enhance its ESG score by incorporating sustainable measures. By deploying EV chargers, Hartpury University demonstrates its commitment to tackling environmental challenges while improving its performance on key environmental, social, and governance metrics.

Roam worked closely with Hartpury University to deliver a phased charging solution tailored to its needs. The first phase included the installation of 17 dual-socket 22kW chargers and one single-socket 22kW charger, creating 35 EV bays. These chargers ensure that current EV drivers on campus have reliable access to charging facilities during their work or studies.

The second phase will deploy smaller EV charging hubs across the campus, adding 16 EV bays at various locations to provide wider access. Future phases are planned to scale the number of chargers in line with the adoption of electric vehicles by students and staff.

Hartpury University selected Roam’s Management financial solution, purchasing the chargers while Roam manages installation, maintenance, and ongoing support. This partnership ensures the university has a robust and scalable EV charging infrastructure, aligning with its sustainability goals and enhancing campus amenities.

By integrating EV charging, Hartpury University supports its environmental objectives, improves the campus experience, and positions itself as a leader in sustainable practices within the education sector.
